fat girls on roller skates

The always lovely Garden State is officially on the maps...well, the Sonic locator map. If you love deep fried foods, crushed ice, and fat girls on roller skates then you'll without a doubt LOVE Sonic. If not, then i don't know. About 2 weeks ago Ali G called to let me know that there was a Sonic near her, and i was ELATED because for several years the people at Sonic have been taunting me with their commercials. I'm not much of a fast food eater, vegetarians are usually pretty limited, but their shakes and smoothies seemed to be quite appealing/intriguing/necessary. Saturday night at Nicole's surprise party, Mike mentioned something about road tripping to Sonic and i said i was definitely down for the trip.

So we loaded up into 3 cars and caravaned down the wonderful garden state parkway to exit 74 and down Rt. 9 south to the first and only Sonic in the state of NJ, only to find that it was "Temporarily Closed" and the "Lot [was] Full". We parked immediately next door at, what i'm sure is a superb diner and walked over to the Sonic. There, we talked to the extremely intelligent 12 year old that appeared to be running the place, and he informed us that the kitchen was "backed up". this certainly was not "fast" food. in fact, from the time that we passed the Sonic, turned around in the diner's lot, drove past Sonic again, drove a few circles around a church's lot, drove by Sonic a 3rd time, and then parked at the diner, there were the same cars completely stationary on the drive-through line. After about 15ish minutes, they reopened the lot! YAHTZEE! After literally flying into the lot, we parked and ordered...FROM OUR CARS! Ah, who doesn't love modern restaurants with retro-themed gimmicks?!

Our magnificent car-hop, Marissa came out and delivered our first ever Sonic experience. (well, not Nicole because she's been before) We ordered fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and an Oreo Sonic Blast®. Lucky for us, whoever bagged our food gave us mac n cheese bites instead of mozzarella sticks, but we just told Marissa they forgot the sticks. yeah, we showed them! The food was pretty good, fairly typical as far as fast food goes.

The Sonic Blast® was basically just vanilla ice cream with oreos mixed in- nothing to write home about. When we were done, we drove the hour back home and played Rock Band for a few hours.

I'd say overall, it was a worthwhile trip. I'd go back again. HOWEVER, i am slightly disappointed because there were no fat girls on roller skates, only fit girls and a boy on roller blades.
JOKE BREAK!
What's the hardest part about rollerblading?

Telling your parents you're gay.

Here's a video i took of Mike ordering, pay attention around 28 seconds in.
